Nexus Media was originally the vision of one of South Africa's most prolific psytrance producers, Chris Hoy (Shift). After a few years and 5 highly acclaimed releases, he was joined by fellow Cape Town psy-producer Liam Gibbs (Slug). The label now has nearly 20 releases to their name, with it's representatives gigging on every continent.

The Nexus sound is powerful, but not necessarily dark, with BPMs ranging from around 142 to 148. Their trademark is the combination of driving, powerful grooves with soaring melodic elements, that has often been characterised as "twilight trance" due to the perfect bridge that it can form between the dark sounds of the night and the sweeter melodies of day time dancefloor music.

To date, Nexus Media has released albums from Shift, Slug, Brethren, Ram, Pitch Hikers, Abomination and Hydraglyph, with numerous compilations spread in between.

A goal of the label is always to be on the lookout for exciting new talent, which it actively helps to develop.
